One of the toughest decisions a mother could ever have to make, after the call was made to take a 3-year-old Winnipeg boy off of life-support, after being stabbed in his sleep by his own mother’s boyfriend. According to CBC news, doctors had given the boy two blood transfusions an placed him on life-support in order to keep him alive after suffering multiple stab wounds. Hunter Straight-Smith, was just 3-years-old when he was stabbed repeatedly in his sleep by what police are calling the mother’s on-and-off boyfriend. Police were called to a north end neighborhood of Winnipeg at around 2:30 a.m. CT on Wednesday, after an alleged dispute erupted between the mother and boyfriend. A decision was made to take Hunter off of life-support, after results came back from the MRI scan. “He went for an MRI, and he has severe brain damage. He’s not gonna make it,” said Roxanne Moar (the mother’s sister) in a text message to CBC. So far a 33-year-old Daniel Jensen is being charged with only attempted murder and assault causing bodily harm, along with 6 violations of his probation, but Winnipeg police say that they will be looking to upgrade those charges based on the outcome of the child’s injuries.
