According to documents obtained by The Star, the Ford government will be reducing it’s funding for children’s aid and youth at risk by a whopping $84million. An analysis of provincial spending estimates done by the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies, say that the reduction includes a $28million cut to the $1.5billion the province gives 49 different children’s aid societies across Ontario. The OACAS sent out a statement warning, “A decrease in children care does not mean there are fewer children in need of protection.” The Star was able to get a briefing note, valid as of may 16, saying calculations were done by the OACS saying that $84million has been cut from youth at risk.
