Well it would appear that Canada is not the only country Conservative leader Andrew Scheer can call home, after Globe and Mail reported he is actually a dual citizen of both Canada and the United States. According to CBC news, a spokesperson for the party by the name of Daniel Schow, confirmed the news to be true on Thursday, but claimed that Scheer had decided to renounce his citizenship once he became leader of the Conservative party. Schow told press that the renouncement process had started back in August, and that paperwork is currently being processed by U.S. government. “Like millions of Canadians, one of Mr. Scheer’s parents was born in another country and immigrated to Canada to start a family. He and his sisters received United States passports as children and Mr. Scheer has not renewed his as an adult,” said Schow on behalf of Andrew. So far the party leader has claimed to have never tried to hide his dual citizenships, but some people may find it strange that he would decide to renounce it with elections right around the corner….
