Facebook Bans Alex Jones, Louis Farrakhan And Others For ‘Hate Speech’

Well it seems Instagram is not the only social media platform to ban the highly controversial Alex Jones as Facebook has decided on Thursday (May 2) that they would be terminating not only Alex Jones but also Islamic Leader Louis Farrakhan from their network. A statement was issued by a spokesperson for Facebook stating, “We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology. The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.” While Jones more known for his wild outbursts and social media tantrums, Facebook claims in the case of Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam leader was removed for making anti-sematic remarks made in his speeches. Back in 2018, Farrakhan received some backlash for his Saviours day speech where he said, “White folks are going down…….And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan has pulled the cover off the eyes of that Satanic Jew and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through.” With social media outlets becoming some of the most viewed news sources and platforms for free speech, should companies like Facebook and Instagram have the power to control who says what?
