Man Recieves Over A $6,000 Bill From Expedia For A One Night Stay

Why pay for a trip to the Bahamas when you can spend over $6,000 for a 1-night stay at the Holiday Inn? That is what a Manitoba man is being charged by Expedia for what they are calling, “$3,100 in ‘taxes and fees’ and $2,800 in ‘property fee.’ Justin Smerchanski was traveling for business when he logged onto Expedia.ca Monday morning, to book a 1-night stay the following evening in the town of Willmar, Minn. In a hurry, he saw Expedia was listing the price for a room at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites going for $207.95 Canadian. According to Smerchanski, he quickly made the purchase but in the printing of the receipt he saw that he had been charged $3,143 In “taxes and fees” and an additional $2,828.66 in “property fees.” The total credit card was officially billed at $6,180.54.
