Following the untimely death of rapper Juice Wrld, fellow artist Trippie Redd has made a vow that he will stop doing drugs. The announcement was made via Instagram Live on Monday morning, where Redd told fans if it isn’t weed, he isn’t going to touch it. “We aint doin it no more, period,” he told the live audience. “If it aint weed, we aint doin’ it no more.” Then added, “And when I say ‘we,’ I mean us as a group. Us as a whole, the whole emo music artists. No drugs.” According to Complex, Trippie was not the only one to claim he would stay sober, after 17-year-old rapper L:il Mosey went on to Twitter to post, “I asked God to help me. Drugs won’t take me I promise and I’m done with them. I love y’all, pray for me.” With the loss of so many talent artists in the music industry due to substance abuse, will hip hop continue to see this trend of drinking lean and popping pills, or will the passing of 21-year-old Juice Wrld be enough to finally wake people up?
